Parks and Park Connectors in Singapore
Singapore's Parks and Park Connectors:
In the highly urbanised city of Singapore, parks and park connectors play a vital role in enhancing liveability by providing green spaces for recreation and biodiversity. The National Parks Board (NParks), established in 1990, has been instrumental in this transformation. Its origins trace back to the 1960s when then-Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew launched the Garden City vision, initiating Singapore’s first tree-planting campaign. Today, NParks leads the "City in Nature" vision, expanding green spaces, restoring ecosystems, and planting one million trees by 2030 to create a sustainable and vibrant environment for current and future generations of Singaporeans.
