Hougang Planning Area


Historically a farming settlement in the 1800s, Hougang was characterised by plantations and a simple rural lifestyle. The area underwent significant change in the 20th century, becoming part of Singapore's urban expansion. Today, its HDB estates and modern infrastructure stand in contrast to its agricultural origins, reflecting the broader narrative of Singapore's development from rural beginnings to a modern city-state.

Saw a couple of city map posters and decided to make a similar one. :]

Bicknell's Thrush (Catharus bicknelli) is a small, elusive bird native to northeastern North America, found in high-altitude spruce forests. It migrates from its breeding grounds in the northeastern U.S. and eastern Canada to wintering habitats in the Caribbean, particularly Hispaniola, between late September and early November. The bird returns to breed from May to early June. This bird is known for its distinct song and is considered a vulnerable species due to habitat loss. Drawing inspiration from John Nelson's blue whale migration map, I created a time-series migration map for this vulnerable species.
